RCD

RCD testing involves safely "tripping" your RCD to confirm that it will operate in accordance with AS/NZS 3760:2010 in the event of an electrical incident. RCD's are designed to trip the power to that circuit.

Multiple types of tests may be required on your RCD ranging from Trip Test to simulated fault test using specialized equipment.

Depending on your building class and age a different testing schedule may be required to maintain compliance with Australian Standards this can range from Three-Monthly to Annually.


RCD testing is required in accordance with AS/NZS 3760:2010 to ensure that it will respond correctly when in a fault situation, these test also require that the RCD respond within an appropriate timeframe. When RCD do not trip in the required time, the results may be fatal.
